In my last company, we lived on a cube farm. As unfortunate as this may seem, one thing was for certain - our daily stand-ups were short and sweet. Because everyone was forced to stand up during the meeting in order to see and talk to everyone else 'on the farm', we had a little extra incentive to finish up.
I would not call us lazy by any means now, but because our development team is all in a bullpen, it is just a little easier to stay seated during the stand-up. I had not really been paying attention to this, but just one day realized that our meetings were longer than they used to be. There may be other reasons, but being comfortably seated during a stand-up meeting kind of defeats one of the key attributes of the daily stand-up.
So... maybe we should buy and install cubes next week to fix this problem once and for all<g>?
