Viva Velocity

So maybe enough about velocity, just wanted to wrap the multi-blog thread up by saying that velocity really serves as a measure of a project's rhythm.  Over time, this measure typically stabilizes, becoming more and more reliable.  This reliability is of tremendous value teams from a planning predictability standpoint.  Looking out into the future, however far you want to take the time to look, can be greatly simplified.  While not exact, velocity is accurate enough to make really sound business decisions - along with the flexibility to shift direction is necessary, which is critical.
